General

  • 5070 Carothers Pkwy. Suite 120. Franklin, TN

  • We do require proof of the following vaccinations: distemper, bordetella, and rabies for dogs over six months old.

  • No, however we use the same technique. This type of training is called Mark and Reward, sometimes referred to as clicker training. We use a crisp "yes!" rather than a clicker, then follow it up with a reward. This type of training helps your dog better isolate the behavior you are teaching, which also speeds up your training.

  • We offer additional training with remote collars. We do not teach behaviors with remote collars. We proof behaviors. None of our Day Train or Group classes include any remote collar training. Email for more information.

Group Classes

  • The class fee covers the entire course, i.e. the cost is $250 for the full six week period. When you register, you are registering for the ENTIRE course, not just one week. The website lists the start date for each individual class, as well as the time. You would have your first week of class on the start date listed, and then return at the same time every week for however many consecutive weeks that class runs to complete your class. The only reason your class schedule would differ is if there is a skip week (which would also be listed online), or if you miss a class for personal reasons.

  • Fresh Canine is a very family friendly business that welcomes the whole crew to participate in training!

  • Your child is absolutely welcome to attend and be the primary handler/trainer of your dog, however anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the classroom at all times, for both safety and legal reasons.

  • We offer a discounted rate for a private lesson while enrolled in group class. 30 min private lesson are $50.

  • Classes will not be held if Williamson County Schools are canceled because of inclement weather. If you class falls on a weekend your instructor will contact you by phone or email if they decide to cancel. Students are welcome to contact their instructors if they are unsure if class will be held because of adverse weather. Every effort will be made to make up cancel classes.

  • Yes, you will need a separate handler and registration for each dog.

Day Trains

  • Day Trains are a mix of individual training sessions, small group play, leash walks, crate & pen rest time and exposure to new people, places and things. Your puppy/dog will come home both physically and mentally tired.

  • Our daily numbers are between 12 - 18 dogs and 4 - 6 trainers. Allowing us plenty of hands on deck!

  • We require puppies to have minimum of two sets of Distemper Parvo Vaccines.

We base our training classes on the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior’s Position Statement on Puppy Socialization.

“In general, puppies can start puppy socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks of age. Puppies should receive a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class and a first deworming. They should be kept up-to-date on vaccines throughout the class. The primary and most important time for puppy socialization is the first three months of life. During this time puppies should be exposed to as many new people, animals, stimuli and environments as can be achieved safely and without causing overstimulation manifested as excessive fear, withdrawal or avoidance behavior. For this reason, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior believes that it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive such socialization before they are fully vaccinated.”

  • We use treats in our training, and as much as possible we work to keep portion sizes small & primarily kibble (dog food) based. Please bring your puppy's own food with them to training, so that as much as possible we can use what they are familiar with from home. For our in-house treats (beef only), we do our very best to pick one that will cause minimal stomach upset, but please know that some loose stool or lack of appetite for dinner at the end of a training day is a possibility. If your dog has any intestinal issues following a day at training, please let us know at drop-off for their next day, so that we can use different types of treats, or other types of rewards. If your dog is known to have a sensitive stomach, please alert us ahead of time (and make sure to bring your dog’s own approved treats with them to training for us to use).

We use Redbarn Naturals Beef Recipe Dog Food Roll.

  • When initially scheduling your dogs program we can adjust for missed days. If you are traveling or have a conflict please let us know up front and we can schedule out.

We are closed on all major holidays. Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas week & New Years Day.

  • All Day Train programs are non-refundable, non-transferable to other services except at the Fresh Canine’s sole discretion. If, after your dog has attended a few days of training, we determine that the program is not the best fit for your dog’s needs, we will work with you to apply the remainder of you package credit to a more suitable service.

Once your dog’s program has started, there can be no refunds, credits, or reschedules given for no-shows or cancelations, except in situations where your dog is sick or injured. In those cases we could require medical records from a veterinary visit.
